Rob will attend a 3-day 1:1 training with Renny Doyle, CEO and owner of Attention to Details and Detailing Success. The program is comprehesive and covers everything from wet sanding, high-speed buffing/polishing, to interior steam cleaning and wheel polishing.

Renny only takes ONE student per training.

"The training will further our personal quest to provide our clients the best possible service, skill, and up-to-date technology in the auto detailing industry," says Rob. "Auto Detailing in Santa Barbara is not currently viable for many consumers because too many "professionals" are simply not educated on today's clear coat paint systems and are still using acids and other non VOC type products. It's our goal to educate our customer and provide the best service at a fair price. We get customers all the time with premature failure of their car's paint system from previous "details" that used too aggressive a pad or chemical. It provides us with work, but I wish the customer had called us first."

This marks Rob's second visit to Renny's facility, but this is the first 3-day full training. "We've been planning this training for about a year and are very motivated and excited! This is putting the cherry on the top of our detail training."

I will visit World Famous Detailer, Jose Fernandez of Superior Shine Detailing. Joe is known as one of the top polishers in the US. He recently completed a polish job for Mr. Lyons at the John Wayne Airport. One of the projects was a B25 bomber! Joe's clients drive some of the most expensive cars in the World. His background goes back to painting cars and restoring vintage hot rods.

I am thrilled and VERY fortunate that he is allowing me to visit and train me further on my own polishing skills. We are working on a black BMW with a variety of pads and polishes and I hope to do a bit of sanding.

I will be sure to post pictures of the detail work and final results of polishing next week.

In attendance will be members of the Porsche Club of America Group- Santa Barbara Chapter. Robert is going to give a 1-2 hr. course on prepping a car for a car show and then have the members try out some methods and products on their own cars. In addition, a raffle will be held where the winner has Robert prep his car for the show! "Last year went very well and I am very excited and humbled that I am being asked to return. It's a great group of people who are passionate about their vehicles- Porsche only. This year I want to mix it up a bit by having them break into groups and use some of the new products that I have found this year. It should be a great afternoon of sharing and learning," Robert stated.

The date is September 12 and we hope many of the Porsche Club members attend.

Summer Detail Training Trips!

(7-1) Robert is headed to three separate detailing clinics, trainers, and schools this summer! First, he leaves for San Diego next week to train with Dann Williams of Big D's Mobile Detailing. Dann is an expert in carpet care and wet sanding. Robert and Dann both use the same professional product line, and will spend a day doing professional growth on a '98 black BMW 328is.

On July 22, Robert leaves for Boston, Maine, and Quebec to train with Yvan L. Yvan is a leader in auto detailing, paint chip repair, headlight restoration, and more! Yvan's company has annual revenues in the 2.5 million range. He will train Robert on business management, steam cleaning, and more on paint perfection. Robert will also visit Jim Gougen in Ipswich, Mass. Jim has been featured on the cover of trade magazines and owns Jim's Auto Detailing and Installations.

In early August, Robert heads to Los Angeles to train with Joe Fernandez, one of the top detailers in the US. Recognized by Meguiars, and featured on television and detailing to the stars, Joe will train Robert on aluminum polishing, high speed paint correction, and sanding techniques.

"I am so excited to have the opportunity to train with three different styles in detailing, but at the same time, some of the best car care technicians in the country! I am lucky and it's going to really be a great experience. Joe and Yvan are getting recognized far beyond the US for their aluminum polishing skills and incredible paint restoration projects and skills. I can't wait to get back and go to work and become even more skilled than I already am!"

This is NOT the best way to care for your car. While it is logical to think a wash is what you need, it can be harmful to the clearcoat.

Ash is normally high in alkaline. When you mix water and heat, it creates etching. The ash can then etch and leave marks in your clearcoat. If your car is washed and some ash mixed with water is introduced to the sun (heat), you have created a problem with your paint system. Once deep enough, you are not going to get those marks out of the clearcoat.

Simply driving the car will remove most of the ash- even a leaf blower will help. Ash is very light and will most likely leave the surface of the paint naturally. In a few days, when the ash stops falling, then you may complete a full wash process, but with the ash still falling, you do NOT want to introduced water to the mix.

If you have any questions, email us at: info@autodetailingteacher.com

Due to our own evacuation, we are not available until this fire settles.

Thank you and good luck!

Rob Regan, owner of the Auto Detailing Teacher, met today with Tim Burgess of the Santa Barbara Clean Creeks Program. Mr. Burgess completed an interview and inspection of Robert's procedures, chemicals, and license. "The purpose of the inspection was to demonstrate our business model that uses 3 oz. of product per car. It is our goal to receive certification from the city's program and promote our wash and wax service starting at $35. We have located a product that allows us to utilize polymer technology and not discharge any chemicals or water into the creek system, which is a federal offense. We want to pressure other non-compliant businesses to follow the law and adhere to the same rules. We have spent thousands on equipment and training."

Upon inspection, The Auto Detailing Teacher was approved. A signed letter from the Mayor is forthcoming as well as some publicity.

"We are fortunate to live in a city that cares so much about its resources. Our certification is one more 'feather' in our cap. We continue to be a leader in an industry that needs a better and more professional image. We hope that citizens of Santa Barbara will call on us to clean their cars while they work. We do offer the best wash and wax detail for the money in town!"

Auto Detailing Teacher Is the ONLY CARWASH you need!

Professionally certified and trained, the Auto Detailing Teacher provides incredible customer service to each individual.
